Pearl Harbor If you like your movies monster and don't have any moral dilemmas as to why, exactly the creators of this film decided to bring you this fat slice of all-American patriotic pie (whose sugarcoating hides historic facts) which opened in the USA on Memorial weekend, then see the film that everyone is talking about. Jerry "Top Gun" Bruckheimer and Michael "Armageddon" Bay bring you Titanic meets Top Gun. Jerry plays with far bigger toys this time round and has made sure the CGI engine roars full blast in the incredible simulated battle scenes making you feel like you are actually in the plane with Lieutenant Maverick and IceMan strike two. With an all-star cast including vetrans, Alec Baldwin and Dan Akyroyd (who seem to be eering on the side of shmaltz in their middle-age), this blockbuster sticks to the safe crowd-pleasing path tread by the Titanic, we have the starcrossed lovers Rafe (Ben Affleck) a fighter pilot who falls madly in love with Evelyn (Kate Beckinsale) a nurse, unfortunately just as Rafe and his best friend and right-wing pilot Danny (Josh Harnett) are dragged into the horrific war.

Potential tears are undercut by some standard Bruckheimer (Producer) cheesiness, but the money scene alone leaves Pearl Harbor unshaken as the must-see film of the summer.
