ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister of Thailand Thaksin Shinawatra on Saturday assured his country's full support to Pakistan on Asean Regional Forum (ARF) and Asean dialogue partnership in a meeting with Foreign Minister Khurshid M Kasuri in Bangkok.
The Thai premier also underlined the tremendous potential that existed in bilateral interaction, especially in the economic and trade sectors of the two countries, says a message received here.
The minister is currently in Thailand to attend the second Asian Cooperation Dialogue (ACD) ministerial meeting being held in Chiang May from June 21-22.
The minister called on Shinawatra and also held bilateral meetings with foreign ministers of a number of ACD member countries including China, Cambodia, Indonesia, and South Korea. Shinawatra deeply appreciated Pakistan's support and its whole-hearted participation in the ACD activities.
The minister informed him that Pakistan will not only act as a prime mover in Asia Institute of Standards but was ready to work with Thailand and Cambodia in tourism and agriculture with China. He said Pakistan was even considering to host the 4th ministerial meeting of ACD in 2005.
During bilateral meetings, the foreign ministers of China, Cambodia, Indonesia, and South Korea acknowledged Pakistan's importance as a regional player in security matters and that question of Pakistan's membership will remain on the agenda of all the Asean meetings.
They lauded Pakistan's role in the international community's war against terrorism.
